Closing E-Mail from Coach Straube:

Thanks Scott, agreed on all points of thanks. I would like to let the parents and players know that Scott has been working on details that the team needed to be launched since early August. Scheduling games, uniforms, ref's, scorekeepers, rink ice, etc. Every game you played Scott followed up to confirm games with managers, got directions to the players, gave me a count on how many players we had skating each week. I could go on and on with the amount of work Scott did to help the players improve there game but I know I would forget one or two details that he always covered.

As a parent of a player a huge thanks Scott for all your efforts.

To the players especially the kids who showed up every week and played hard.

THANK YOU. When the bench was full we held our own with anybody and we played some great hockey. My memory of this team is the look the boys had in the 3rd period when they just got off a shift and you ask them "you ready" and they hop on the ice and give there best. Win or loose to the core group of kids that played I never questioned your effort. I truly enjoyed coaching the players they always played with class and left it all on the ice!

Thanks Dan Straube

Closing E-Mail from Mr. Allen:

Hello Everyone,

I would like to thank everyone that was involved this season with Wilmington Ice Hockey Club.
It was a great success and I am proud to associated with every player and parent.
The main goal was to keep the schedule lite and still play completive hockey.   I know we accomplished our goal and I was pleased to see every player improve their skills.

Special thanks to our coaches (Dan, John and Joe) who devoted their time and knowledge helping our boys.
Thank you Madeleine of keeping track of our funds.
Thanks to all the parents, it was so nice to have a great of parents that made the boys the priority.
Thanks to all the parents that helped with the clock, score sheet and penalty box.
Thanks to anyone else I may have forgot.

As far as the boys go, I must say that this is the best group of boys I have been associated with.  They always respected each other, our coaches, the rink personal and the refs. I received feedback numerous times from Dot "the rink manager" and "the snack bar ladies" about how well our boys presented themselves.  We always had players supporting each other on the bench and in the locker room.  These friendships will last a lifetime and this may be the biggest success of the season.

Welcome to the Team [Top of Page]

The Wilmington Ice Hockey team is a Limited Club Team designed for high school ice hockey players who play school ice hockey and also want to play at the club hockey level without the club commitment.  We intend to have 1 practice a week with 1 hockey game each weekend.   We will begin in September and run through the end of February.

Our home rink will be the Skating Club of Wilmington.  All home games and scheduled practices will be at the Skating Club of Wilmington.

We will play 10 home games and 10 away games at a minimum.  Home games will be played on Saturday at 10:45AM.  We intend to compete against Midget AA teams and upper Midget A teams.  Away games should not be more than a 45 min. drive; our goal is to keep travel to minimum.

Practices will be on Wednesday nights at 7:50PM.

We would like players to be committed and do their best to make every practice.  If you cannot make a practice, please notify a coach or manager.

We are considering 3 tournaments during the season; one may be a travel tournament depending on the interest of the team.
